5 Ways to Stress Less While Wedding Planning

Wedding planning can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions and daunting tasks, and it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Just remember – you’re not alone! Other couples have been in your shoes and know exactly how you feel. Take a calming breath, then read on for five ways to stress less while wedding planning.

Avoid the Comparison Game
There are so many amazing sources of inspiration for weddings out there. It’s easy to get swept away in all the beautiful things you see and begin second-guessing the decisions you’ve made. Just like we’re all our own unique selves, your wedding day is uniquely you. Avoid comparing your wedding to other weddings by reducing the amount of time you spend searching for inspiration, especially after you’ve made major purchases and design decisions. You’ll avoid the stress that accompanies buyer’s remorse, which leaves you with more positive energy to keep planning YOUR perfect day.

Create Boundaries for Yourself
Balance is key in life…and in wedding planning. While your wedding planning journey may occupy much of your time over the next several months, it doesn’t have to consume your whole life. It’s easy for wedding-related tasks to rise to the top of your mind and be the main point of conversation with your friends and family. Know that it’s acceptable to set boundaries by changing the subject or simply asking for a little non-wedding fun with your besties. After all, having your guests experience your hard work for the first time on your wedding day is a much better surprise!

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help
It’s easy to become caught up in handling all things wedding on your own, but don’t be afraid to ask for help! Whether it’s a trusted friend or close family member, or you decided to hire a wedding coordinator, know that there’s always someone willing to lend an extra hand. And remember – you have a partner in all this! Embrace the journey with your soon-to-be spouse and plan your wedding day by each other’s side.

Unplug for 30 Minutes
Just like you might ask your wedding guests to be fully present at your unplugged ceremony, it’s important to do the same in your day-to-day life. Take time to unplug from your devices for at least 30 minutes per day.  Use that time to focus on resetting, whether it’s meditation, a rejuvenating stroll, or catching up on your favorite hobby. Better yet – you’re engaged! Take some time to connect with your partner and revel in this exciting moment. Grab a meal together, chat about future travel plans, or watch the sunset together from your favorite spot.

Make Time for Movement
Similar to unplugging, physical activity can aid in de-stressing and improving your mental health. It can be as simple as going for an evening walk around your neighborhood with your partner or starting your morning with a quick workout. After you get into a routine, you’ll find that wedding planning and other day-to-day tasks that once seemed daunting become much easier to tackle!
